Art Deco color splash coming to the Armory
West Palm Beach arts center undergoing $2 million in renovations
The Armory Arts Center in West Palm Beach might be the finest example of art deco architecture in Palm Beach County.
It’s about to look even better.
The original art deco building, constructed in 1939 and renovated in 1988, is about to get a new paint job, part of a $2 million makeover that will include a new roof and windows and needed repairs to the arts center that opened in 1987.
Architect Rick Gonzalez, who’s helping with the project, offered a brief overview of how the exterior will look later this year.
“It’s going to be beautiful,’’ he said.
