Jack the Bike Man needs your help!
Why the beloved West Palm Beach bicycle charity is racing against a deadline toward an uncertain future.
The clock is ticking on Jack The Bike Man.
The West Palm Beach bicycle charity has a new permanent home, but it can’t move in yet. The new home, a warehouse built in 1925, needs at least $2.5 million in renovations.
But that’s not the only problem. The landlord of Jack The Bike Man’s current temporary location wants the charity out by the end of the year.
Jack Hairston, the man known as “Jack the Bike Man,’’ has given away thousands of bicycles to underprivileged kids since 1999. He’s also helped thousands of adults in need.
Now, he’s hoping the community can help his charity find money for the renovations.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to help steer Jack The Bike Man toward a self-sustaining future. But will enough money be raised in the coming months before the charity gets evicted from its temporary space?
“If you know Jack's story, you know he's an incredibly resilient person. I never would bet against Jack,’’ one board member said.
